Approaches to Critical Artistry – Initial Project Template
|MODULE: Approaches to Critical Artistry||Initial Project Template|
|Caroline McCluskey What are the key questions you want to be able to answer through this project?
Why do I want to share my creative practice in exploring the Orff Schulwerk approach to Music, Dance and Speech Education within my work in the RCS and in the community? How do I hope to share my creative practice within the different settings in which I work? What do I want to share of my creative practice with the people whom I work with?
|Where will you look to find answers to these questions?Through reflective discussions with practitioners who are inspired by the Orff Schulwerk approach; practitioners in Community Arts and in Music Education; my fellow PG Cert colleagues and my Action Learning Set Group. Looking at different examples, from home and abroad, of how practitioners work and develop their work in my field (Austria and Finland). By allowing myself thoughtful time to review and connect with what I know already. Through mentorship from people who know me and my work well. From literature (Carl Orff, Eric Booth, Ken Robinson, Estelle Barrett & Barbara Bolt, Simon Sinek) and on-line journals (my peers and on-line community).|
|Who are your stakeholders for this project – i.e. who will be impacted?RCS students, predominantly Community Music students. The children, families, young people and adults whom I work with, in the RCS and in the Community. Teachers and Music Specialists.|
|What benefits may arise from a successful project? (for you and/or for others)A more connected, joined up way of working for me as a practitioner. An effective model for how creative practitioners can share their knowledge, skills and practice within formal and informal settings. The nurturing and enhancement of a musical community.|
|What do you hope to learn from undertaking this project?How to see the bigger picture of my work. How to develop my strengths and target the key areas where I often feel stuck. How to answer the how? How do I hope the share my creative practice within the different settings in which I work? For some reason the ‘why’ and the ‘what’ feel clearer to me just now but I am stuck on how. I want to gain a clearer understanding with regards to sustainability and the longer term impact, legacy of my work.|
